description. Ianthasaurus was a small pelycosaur about the size of a housecat, that lived during the late Carboniferous in what is now Kansas. During the Carboniferous rainforest collapse, the climate became much more arid. Wild fires were frequent events, and once common swamps began to recede. This Ianthasaurus lounges on rocks that were not long ago shaded by thick trees and foliage, all while more rainforest continues to burn unabated in the distance.
