From creating shade that supports flowering shrubs like Lemonade berry that benefit pollinating insects, to creating leaf litter that retains moisture and acts as a natural fire retardant, there are numerous benefits to planting these trees in Southern California. This Illustration will be able to be seen at the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens.
