description. Bolg amondol is a new species of armored monstersaurian lizard from the Kaiparowits formation of Utah. A relative of today’s Gila monsters, Bolg shares similarities with species of Asian Cretaceous reptiles like Gobiderma. Hank Woolley; who described the new species, also found evidence that Bolg was able to sever its tail if threatened, allowing for an interesting insight as to how autotomy evolved in lizards. Here, Bolg raids the nest of an absent dinosaur. This illustration accompanied Hank's research when it was published in The Royal Society.
