description. As the climate of Rancho La Brea begins to change, the environment becomes dryer. Water recedes from local watering holes to reveal the famous asphalt traps of La Brea, trapping animals looking for water and easy meals alike.  Second in a series of four paintings created to accompany Regan Dunn and Emily Lindsey's featured article in Science Magazine and it's online counterpart.
